How did the Go EVERGREEN program get started? "We saw a need for our customers and for us..."says Adam, who recalls placing yard waste out with the trash and thinking, "Someone ought to use all this yard waste and make energy." Well, that someone is now us. And so the yard waste collection program was born. We are excited to take this program throughout Montgomery and Bucks County later this year. By participating in the Go EVERGREEN you are helping the goal to recycle more and waste less.
Our yard waste collection for our customers is simple, easy and effective. For our recycling we operate split body trucks so our customers can place both yard waste and recyclables at the curb on the same day. We are able to keep the trash and recyclable separated and then dump them at their facilities.
Yard waste is taken to our partners mulching facility where the mulching process can begin.
The commercial mulching / composting process can take anywhere from 5 weeks to 8 months before its ready for consumers.
Professional landscapers recommend that mulch be spread 3in. deep around woody plants and 2-3in deep around herbaceous perennials and annuals. Best gardening practices include not placing mulch directly against plant stems (this is true of any mulch, as mulching directly around woody stems can contribute to plant disease and decay.) When used in paths and other applications not directly around plants, mulch may be applied greater than 3in. deep to suppress growth of weeds.
